A simple emergency tool I wish we’d had ...

Hi friends,

Lately, I’ve been feeling the threads of my work coming together in a way I did not fully expect.

For years, I’ve written and taught about life transitions, purpose, legacy, and what it means to move from one chapter of life into the next with more clarity, courage, and heart.

And now I’m realizing that my newest project, My Caregiving Essentials, is part of that same body of work.

Actually, it has become one of my own legacy projects, even though I never really saw it coming. Caregiving is a life transition, too. It changes families. It changes roles. It changes how we think about love, responsibility, preparation, and what it means to care without losing ourselves in the process.

Recently, that became very personal. One critical incident with my dad inspired me to focus on this project.

My dad experienced a serious, life-threatening medication error during an emergency room visit. As a result, I created a free resource called the Refrigerator Emergency Kit. It is a simple way to keep essential medical information visible, updated, and easy to find when it matters most.

The kit is also part of the “A” step in the new I.C.A.R.E. framework I've developed to support caregivers. The framework is the foundation of my upcoming book, My Caregiving Essentials: What to Say, Do, and Prepare Before Caregiving Becomes Your Second Full-Time Job. The “A” is about accessing and organizing critical information before a crisis hits.

So no, I haven’t abandoned my original body of work.

I’m seeing how deeply intertwined it all is.

Sometimes legacy looks like a dream we finally give ourselves permission to pursue. Sometimes legacy looks like making sure the people we love have what they need in a moment of crisis. And sometimes it looks like sharing what we’ve learned in a way that impacts the lives of others.

I wrote more about why I created the Refrigerator Emergency Kit, including a conversation I had with a longtime paramedic friend about what EMTs and ER staff really need to know.

You can read the post and download the free Refrigerator Emergency Kit here:

And, as always, please share this email or the link to this blog post to anyone you think might benefit.

With love,
Trisha

Hi, I missed my usual Tuesday blog post. At first, I wanted to call it procrastination ... but then I noticed what was really happening. Maybe I wasn’t failing, even if my inner dialogue suggested otherwise. Maybe I needed a pause. This week’s reflection is here: When Procrastination May Actually Be a Sign You Need a Pause With love,Trisha

Hi, Today, Facebook Memories reminded me that it was one year ago today that I bought my RV. A year. So much has happened since then and here I am, exactly where I was a year ago. Still talking about hitting the road. Still feeling tethered to something I can’t quite name. Maybe you know that feeling too; when life is calling you forward, but love, guilt, fear, or responsibility keeps you standing still. This week’s reflection is about putting others before ourselves, remembering that love...

Hi, This week’s Your Weekly Spark is a little more personal. After listening to Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way on a long drive, I decided to recommit to the practice of Morning Pages; three pages of honest, unfiltered writing first thing in the morning. I didn’t expect much. But just three days in, the pages started revealing some truths I had been quietly avoiding: about my body, my money, my energy, my freedom, and the ways I’ve been trying to soothe myself through a life that no longer...
